Integrated Rural Development through People Centered Environmentally Sustainable Action.

Other Activities

RUCHI has many other areas of work that compliment our core work in Natural Resource Management, Community Health, Agricultural Extension and Technology Promotion.

Some are described as following:

International Volunteers

photo8 (95K)RUCHIs Totem programme allows international volunteers to live on the RUCHI campus and participate in RUCHIs work.

During their time they learn about RUCHIs work and the work of the Indian voluntary sector in general, and work with our staff on projects.

The scheme brings about exchange of ideas and perspectives, is exciting and motivating for our staff and the local people, and brings some profit which we use on.

Student Summer Placements

Students from Indian Universities are invited to do work on a voluntary basis during their vacations. They take up assignments on project evaluations and studies, or case studies.

This helps the students gain practical experience of development work, and we benefit from their new skills and methods, and their fresh ideas and perspectives.

HelpAge International Sponsor-A-Grandparent Programme

Suffering during old age is common here because there is no system to support people who are too frail or ill to look after themselves.

Duty of care usually falls on family or neighbours, but often these people do not have the money to care for an extra dependent, or personal problems mean that the elderly are abandoned.

Catalysing Change

Catalysing Change is a wonderful resource containing a wealth of information about RUCHI, our areas of work, our projects, people, history and sustainable rural development.
